Rider's Edge® New Rider Course provides an entry point into the freedom, adventure, and exhilaration of motorcycling by enabling non-riders to develop basic motorcycling skills and knowledge in a way that is fun and involving.THE PURPOSE
Rider's Edge New Rider Course is not just about motorcycle instruction. It is an education about life on two wheels and what it means to be a part of a unique community of dedicated, spirited individuals who share a passion for the open road. Whether you are a seasoned rider looking to perfect your skills, a group of friends learning to ride together, or someone taking the very first step in a lifelong motorcycle journey, Rider’s Edge New Rider Course can show you the way and take you places you have never dreamed of. We are not just training riders, we are making motorcyclists.THE DESCRIPTION
The New Rider Course uses the proven curriculum of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation® Beginner Rider Course: Riding and Street Skills. But that is just the beginning. We have added the twists and turns you would expect from Harley-Davidson and Buell, creating an experience that is not just educational, but entertaining and inspirational as well.With a few days of classroom instruction, range riding, and testing, you will have most of the tools you need to ride with skill and confidence. After completing the course and passing the multiple-choice written knowledge test and riding skills evaluation, you will receive a Motorcycle Safety Foundation completion card that exempts you from the DMV road test, one of two parts to receiving a motorcycle license in Texas. In addition, your completion card may get you discounts on insurance. Best of all, you will have taken your first step toward an experience that will change your life.

Rider's Edge Course instructors are certified MSF Rider Coaches who have received additional training from the Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Instructors teach the class because they themselves have the passion for the open road and are part of the unique motorcycling community.THE REQUIREMENTS
- Valid automobile driver’s license
- Ability to ride a bicycle
- Parents signature if under 18 years old
- Protective riding gear including:
- Helmet that meets DOT requirements
- Heavy, long-sleeve shirt or jacket
- Long pants
- Over-the-ankle footwear
- Full-finger gloves
- Eye protection
THE COST
The cost of the New Rider Course is $245. This includes the use of the Buell® Blast®, the course workbook, and all the fun you can have in 24 hours.* The Rider's Edge Course is taught on site at our dealership.
